Won’t pull apart at all

I’m extremely disappointed, after I was was so excited to find a mini tablet mount that I could use for marching music (the phone screen is just too small). It took a month to arrive after my initial order, and when it finally arrived, it will NOT pull apart to mount my tablet. The locking mechanism turns from locked to unlocked, but you cannot pull the arms apart. After waiting so long for my order, I’m just incredibly depressed.
